Three Typical Situations of Earthwork Measurement

Three Typical Situations of Earthwork Measurement Tips for earthwork measurement under different circumstances with Tersus Oscar GNSS receiver and NUWA APP Earthwork calculations are essential in many survey projects, but the complexity of measurement and calculations causes many new engineers headaches. In general, earthwork calculation is divided into two parts: excavation and filling, which can also be simply understood as volume and capacity calculation. The following are the Tips for using the Tersus Oscar GNSS receiver and NUWA App for earthwork measurement under different circumstances. The powerful earthwork calculation function of the NUWA app can calculate the result and quickly; you only need to import the survey points and then input the reference altitude. Notes for measurement: When measuring points, we should measure as many points on the surface of the object as possible. The density of survey points needs to be strengthened in places where the terrain changes signifi

Change Battery without Base Shift

Change Battery without Base Shift Oscar GNSS receiver “Change Battery” mode lets the surveyor free from re-configuring & base shift Tersus Oscar GNSS receiver equips intelligent lithium batteries, which can detect electricity and display the power level intelligently. The built-in large capacity battery (7.4V 6400mAh) is detachable, and it supports up to 8 hours of fieldwork in 4G/3G/2G mode and Rover Radio mode. If the surveyor is testing outdoors for a long time, the battery of the Oscar base station set up may be exhausted. Usually, he has to turn off the receiver, change a new battery, and restart it. After turning on, if he used the "Autostart" mode before, the Oscar GNSS receiver will start with new base coordinates. In this case, he has to do a "Base shift" to continue the previous project. If he used the "Manual start" mode with a known point before, the Oscar GNSS receiver would become a single mode. He has to reconfigure the base. In respon

Complete the Base Shift Quickly

Complete the Base Shift Quickly Few steps to complete the base shift In ‘ Auto Start ’ mode for base station, if the base is moved, re-erected or restarted at an unknown point, base shift should be performed to ensure the points collected by the current base station is consistent with that before the base is moved or powered off. Briefly, find a known point, measure the coordinates of this point, then use this point to calculate the offset of the base shift, apply the base shift to all the survey points under the current base coordinates to make the reference coordinate system of the base remains the same as the previous base station. The detailed steps are as follows: 1.  Click  [Base Shift]  to enter the following interface, Figure 1 shows the calculation result for the base shift; Figure 2 shows the source of the base shift calculation. 2.  Click the list icon on the right of GNSS Point to select a survey point which is measured at the known point and click the list icon on the ri

Configuring Oscar as an Internet Base

Configuring  Oscar  as an Internet Base Take DJI Phantom 4 RTK as an example Are you tired of any cons of UHF radio setup at the RTK base station? Or naturally, consider the NTRIP correction is proper for your  RTK applications? Within a few seconds by several simple button presses on the Oscar GNSS receiver's configuration panel, you are ready to connect any NTRIP capable rover receivers to the correction data stream broadcasted by the Oscar base station. 1. Configuring the Oscar Receiver 1.1 Connecting the receiver to the cellular network Internet 1) Insert a SIM card into the receiver. The sim card could be from any one of your local telecom operators. There is nothing special you need to worry about, e.g., a public or static IP address. Just be sure you have a data plan. 2) Turn on the cellular network connection over the configuration panel on the receiver. Use the two buttons on the panel to operate the menu shown on the OLED display. (For details of the operation over the
What’s the Grid To Ground on Tersus Nuwa Tersus GNSS has recently developed the latest function, “Grid to Ground,” coordinate conversion on the Nuwa app. It greatly facilitates the conversion from GNSS survey results to optical survey results and the conversion between grid measurements on map data's projection surface and ground measurement coordinates. We can see from the picture below that Grid and Ground coordinates are mainly the coordinates located on two different planes. Suppose we have collected some GNSS points using a Tersus receiver, which is grid coordinates. We need to convert all points to ground coordinates. Just find a data point, for example, Pt1, calculate the combined scale factor of its location, apply the parameter to all grid points, and get the ground coordinates. To better understand the potential relationship between the two coordinate systems, we introduce several concepts as follows. 1. Direction offset Using an optical instrument to measure an unknown
